“Thunder Queens: Punk Trio’s Inspiring Journey”

A new documentary highlights the journey of Thunder Queens, a punk trio from a London high school. The band, consisting of Violet Bruneel, Lola Hayman, and Clara Magnan, started creating music together at the London Girls Rock Camp at just nine years old. Known for their unique blend of harmonies and experimental grunge rock, Thunder Queens have shared the stage with renowned Canadian acts like The Beaches, Frank Turner, Billy Talent, and The Violent Femmes while juggling high school responsibilities.

Tegan and Sara, indie music stars, are the executive producers of the documentary titled “Thunder Queens,” set to premiere at the Forest City Film Festival on October 17. The film chronicles the trio’s growth from their early teens, capturing moments from rehearsals to live performances.

The band recently launched their 11-track album, “Deep Below,” under Victory Pool records. Thunder Queens’ impact on their audience, especially young fans, has been significant, with many expressing how the band has inspired them. The trio aims to give back to the music community and encourage more young individuals to pursue music.

Despite their busy schedules balancing school, band commitments, jobs, and extracurricular activities, Thunder Queens remain grateful for the opportunities they have. They view themselves as high school friends who express their creativity through music for others to enjoy.

Catch the premiere of “Thunder Queens” at the Forest City Film Festival on October 17 at 7 p.m. at Wolf Performance Hall. Tickets are available for purchase on the festival’s website.
