“Tiger Woods to Take Golf Hiatus After Seventh Back Surgery”

Tiger Woods has acknowledged that he will be taking a break from golf following a recent back surgery in October. The American athlete faced another setback when he needed to undergo a procedure to replace a disc in his spine, marking his seventh back surgery and third major operation within the past two years, having previously dealt with issues in his Achilles and ankle.

Despite winning the Masters in 2019 after an 11-year gap without a Major victory, Woods has struggled to maintain his competitive edge due to ongoing injuries. While he managed to host his annual Hero World Challenge golf tournament in the Bahamas, he recognizes that a return to the golf course is still far off.

In a light-hearted comment, Woods mentioned playing in numerous events across different tours, but then shifted to a more serious tone, emphasizing the need to focus on his recovery before planning his comeback. He recently received clearance to resume chipping and putting after six weeks post-surgery, highlighting the slow but necessary rehabilitation process.

One of Woods’ main driving forces is potentially breaking a significant PGA record, aiming to surpass golf icon Sam Snead’s shared record of 82 all-time PGA tournament wins. Notah Begay III, a close friend of Woods, noted that simply being able to walk around the course post-surgeries poses a significant challenge for the golf legend’s comeback aspirations.
