“Toronto Officer Faces Firearm Charges After CBSA Investigation”

A Toronto police officer faces charges related to firearm offenses following an investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). On July 23, CBSA officers intercepted a package from the United States at a Mississauga facility containing two firearm suppressors. The CBSA identified 47-year-old Nasser Gholami of Brampton as the intended recipient of the package. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at Gholami’s Brampton residence on September 24, leading to the seizure of three non-restricted firearms, a prohibited suppressor, digital devices, and ammunition.

Gholami is now charged with four offenses, including smuggling and importing prohibited devices without authorization. Toronto Police spokesperson Nadine Ramadan confirmed that Gholami, a constable with seven years of service, has been suspended with pay. It was clarified that the charges from CBSA are not related to his duties as a police officer. Additionally, the police chief intends to suspend him without pay after the mandatory 60-day period stipulated by the Community Safety and Policing Act.
