This upcoming weekend marks the final long weekend of the summer season in Toronto. Whether you have plans for the end of summer or simply wish to unwind before heading back to school, here’s a rundown of important information you should know. The weather is expected to be sunny from Saturday through Monday, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 26°C. However, please note that most businesses, including grocery stores and banks, will be closed on Monday due to Labour Day.
Despite the closures, there are still numerous activities and attractions to explore throughout the city. The Canadian International Air Show will grace Toronto’s waterfront with aerial displays from Saturday to Monday afternoons. Additionally, the Labour Day Parade will traverse Toronto streets on Monday, commencing at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of St. Patrick Street and Queen Street W.
Labour Day also coincides with the final day of the 2026 CNE, with some attractions closing early at 5 p.m. Gates will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with no re-entry permitted after 3 p.m. Other attractions such as the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, The Toronto Zoo, and Canada’s Wonderland will remain open on Labour Day, with Canada’s Wonderland hosting a fireworks display on Saturday evening.
For those interested in cultural experiences, museums like the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Ontario will be open throughout the weekend and on Monday. The annual BuskerFest will also be held at Woodbine Park from Friday to Monday, with admission by donation supporting Epilepsy Toronto. Some of the city’s outdoor public pools will be available for drop-in swimming on Labour Day, although most community recreation centers will be closed.
Regarding essential services, while most major grocery stores will be closed on Labour Day, select locations may operate with reduced hours. Similarly, some pharmacies like Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall will be open at specific sites with adjusted holiday schedules. LCBO stores will be closed on Monday, but alternative alcohol retailers such as the Beer Store and Wine Rack will be open at selected locations.
As for shopping malls, most will observe regular hours on Saturday and Sunday but will either close or operate with reduced hours on Labour Day. Mall closures on Labour Day include Dufferin Mall, Fairview Mall, Sherway Gardens, and Scarborough Town Centre. Malls with reduced hours include Toronto Eaton Centre, Toronto Premium Outlets, CF Markville, Square One Shopping Centre, Upper Canada Mall, Vaughan Mills, and Pacific Mall. Yorkdale Shopping Centre stores will be closed on Monday, except for the Cineplex and select restaurants.
Public transit services by TTC and GO Transit will follow regular schedules on Saturday and Sunday.
