Tragic Bakery Accidents Claim Lives in Greece and UK

A tragic incident unfolded as a baker, Zoe Letsiou, 49, lost her life in a horrifying accident involving a bread-making machine. While cleaning the machine at her bakery in Larissa, Greece, her scarf became entangled in the rollers, tightening around her neck as the machine continued to operate. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Zoe could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses, including Zoe’s brother-in-law, confirmed that she was cleaning the machine when the accident occurred. The community in Damasi, where Zoe was well-loved, expressed their condolences and support for her family during this difficult time.

In a separate incident, a worker named Paul Clarke, 40, tragically lost his life after being struck by a reversing lorry at a pasty-making factory in Cornwall. The CCTV footage showed the vehicle backing into the loading bay where Paul was moving strip curtains, resulting in the fatal accident. Paul, who had recently joined the bakery as an intake operator, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, the owner of the factory was fined for health and safety violations related to the lack of risk assessment and proper safety procedures. The Health and Safety Executive investigation revealed critical deficiencies in the workplace safety measures, leading to the tragic loss of Paul Clarke’s life.
