A pedestrian, aged 28, passed away following a collision in Ajax on Tuesday, according to Durham police. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. close to Salem Road and Chambers Drive when a truck driven by a 60-year-old man struck a man on rollerblades, as stated in a news release by Durham police on Wednesday. Sadly, the pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene.
Reportedly, the truck had just come off the westbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Salem Road and was making a right turn when the accident happened. The driver of the 2027 Freightliner truck stayed at the site and has been cooperating with the authorities. Individuals who might have witnessed the collision are encouraged to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
