Tragic Discovery: Woman’s Body Found in River Tees

A young woman’s body was discovered in the River Tees near Barnard Castle, County Durham, after emergency services responded to a kayaker in distress. The 20-year-old’s body was retrieved following a report of a kayaker in trouble around 2pm on Saturday. Various agencies, including firefighters, paramedics, police, coastguard, and a search and mountain rescue team, were on site to assist.

Durham Constabulary confirmed the recovery of the body and mentioned that specialized officers are supporting the woman’s family during this difficult time. The authorities expressed regret over the tragic incident and the loss of life in the River Tees.

The North East Ambulance Service dispatched crews and sought assistance from the Great North Air Ambulance Service and the mountain rescue team following reports of a person in the water in the Lartington area of Barnard Castle on Saturday afternoon.
