Kai Trump recently shared the advice given to her by Tiger Woods before her challenging debut at The Annika on the LPGA Tour. As the granddaughter of former US President Donald Trump, Kai received a sponsor’s exemption to compete at Pelican Golf Club in Florida.
Despite finishing 18-over-par in the first two rounds, trailing by six strokes behind her competitors, Kai, an amateur player still in high school, had limited experience with only three American Junior Golf Association events this year. Questions were raised about her participation since she is ranked 461st in the American Junior Golf Association, and her last-place finish did not validate her invitation.
Woods, who is romantically linked to Kai’s mother, Vanessa, shared some words of wisdom with Kai before her tournament. He emphasized the importance of enjoying the game, staying relaxed, and not letting nerves take over, echoing the advice given by her grandfather.
Although Trump Sr. couldn’t attend the event due to his busy schedule, Kai shared insights about her usual golf matches with her grandfather, acknowledging his skill on the course. Despite struggling with nervousness during the tournament, Kai expressed satisfaction with her performance and the learning experience as the youngest player in the field.
Reflecting on her nerves and performance, Kai highlighted the importance of remaining calm and focusing on moving forward after mistakes. She credited her improved play in the second round to a more peaceful mindset and the ability to let go of past errors.
