Peel Regional Police have apprehended two individuals and are seeking two more suspects following a home invasion and shooting incident in Brampton, Ontario, that occurred in June. The incident took place in the vicinity of McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue W, where five individuals were sleeping in their residence on June 14.
Around 4:30 a.m., three assailants reportedly forced entry into the house through a rear glass door, while a fourth suspect stayed in a nearby vehicle. A confrontation unfolded between the suspects and the occupants, resulting in two individuals sustaining gunshot wounds.
The injured parties were taken to the hospital for treatment, and they have since been discharged and are recuperating from their injuries. Peel police disclosed that an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old from Toronto were apprehended on July 15. Both face multiple charges, including attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated assault, robbery, and non-compliance with a sentence or disposition.
The identity of the 16-year-old cannot be revealed due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. One of the outstanding suspects, armed with a handgun, is described as a tall male with a dark complexion and a robust build. The second outstanding suspect, who served as the driver of the getaway vehicle, does not have a detailed description available.
Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah stated on a social media platform that the police force is committed to pursuing all individuals involved until justice is served. He emphasized the severe impact of violent home invasions on victims, their families, and the broader community, undermining the fundamental sense of safety and security every resident deserves.
