“University Student Killed in Tragic Wolf Attack”

A university student tragically lost his life in a fatal wolf attack while on a leisurely walk, ignoring a colleague’s warning. Kenton Carnegie, 22, was participating in a geological survey project in Points North Landing, Canada, as part of his academic placement when the incident occurred.

On November 8, 2005, Kenton ventured out near the lake to observe the rocks, disregarding advice from pilot Todd Svarckopf to stay at the camp and engage in a hockey game at the hangar. Despite the pilot’s caution, Kenton proceeded with his walk.

Approximately a kilometer away from the camp, Kenton noticed a wolf trailing him through the snow. As he tried to hasten his pace, two more wolves joined in, initiating a deadly attack. Despite his attempts to defend himself, Kenton was overwhelmed by the pack.

Following his disappearance, a search party from the camp discovered Kenton’s tracks leading to the lake, where his lifeless body was found surrounded by wolf footprints. Rosalie Tsannie, the regional coroner, assisted in handling the situation.

Kenton had informed his mother about wolf sightings in the area the day before the tragic event. Subsequently, two wolves were euthanized by wildlife officers three days later, with autopsy results indicating the presence of human remains in their digestive systems.

Describing his son, Kenton’s father reflected on his dynamic yet sensitive nature. He clarified that Kenton was not intentionally seeking the wolves but simply enjoying a walk to appreciate nature and examine the rocks.
