An urgent search is currently in progress following reports of multiple sexual assaults on women while they were engaging in physical activity along the seafront. Sussex Police has released video footage of a person they wish to speak with regarding the incidents that occurred in Hove Lawns, East Sussex, and the surrounding vicinity. The individual in question is described as a bald man in his forties with either a Spanish or Italian accent, often seen wearing exercise attire.
The suspect is believed to have interacted with the victims, who were either taking a break or had completed their exercise routines, during the hours of 4.30am to 9.30am. The assaults were reported to have been committed over the victims’ clothing. Authorities have connected recent occurrences to previous reports from last year and 2023, where a suspect was apprehended and subsequently released without further action being taken.
Detective Inspector Jenny Pietersen emphasized that public safety is the top priority for law enforcement, with an ongoing investigation now in progress. Increased patrols have been deployed along the seafront to enhance the safety of women in the area. The public is urged to come forward if they witnessed any related incidents or can identify the individual involved.
Furthermore, police are in communication with the victims, and it has been stated that there is no indication of heightened risk to women on the seafront. Detective Inspector Jenny Pietersen’s statement highlighted the focus on public safety and the collaborative efforts to safeguard women in the community. Individuals who have information or may recognize the suspect in the images are encouraged to contact the authorities online or via the designated hotline, quoting Operation August for reference.
