“Wakefield Council Distributing £70 Supermarket Vouchers to Residents”

Residents in a specific region of the UK are receiving £70 supermarket vouchers to assist with living expenses.

The initiative, known as the Household Support Fund, is being implemented by Wakefield Council. Each council administers its own version of the Household Support Fund, offering various forms of assistance such as energy support, supermarket vouchers, and monetary grants.

The distribution of food vouchers by Wakefield Council targets low-income households already receiving council tax support. Pensioners benefiting from Council Tax Support have already received a £70 voucher in November, with additional vouchers forthcoming for other eligible households.

Families entitled to Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher starting on December 15. Other households receiving Council Tax Support will be provided with a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12.

Eligible recipients will automatically receive the vouchers without needing to apply. The council emphasizes caution against potential scammers and urges residents to remain vigilant.

The council warns residents about fraudulent text messages and emails falsely claiming entitlement to a Household Support Fund payment and requesting bank details. Genuine vouchers are always sent via letter, and no bank account details are required for their use. Residents are advised that the council will never request bank details through text or email.

For individuals outside Wakefield, it is advisable to explore potential support available through the Household Support Fund from local councils
