“Windsor Police Arrest 8, Including 5 Minors, in Weapons Incident”

The Windsor Police Service announced that eight individuals, including five minors, have been arrested in connection with a weapons incident that occurred early Sunday morning. Responding to a call about a person with a weapon in the vicinity of Wyandotte Street West and Bruce Avenue around 3:30 a.m., officers swiftly intercepted the suspect vehicle near Bruce Avenue and Caroline Street.

Upon stopping the vehicle, seven occupants in a Dodge Caravan were apprehended without resistance, and law enforcement seized multiple cans of bear spray and a BB gun from the scene. The eighth suspect, who attempted to flee on foot while wearing a black balaclava, was pursued and apprehended by Windsor police K9 officer Timber, resulting in minor injuries to the 15-year-old.

All five minors were charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace. The 15-year-old also faces charges for wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense and failing to comply with a youth sentence. One 17-year-old is charged with wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense and two counts of failing to comply with a youth sentence. Another 17-year-old faces charges for failing to comply with a youth sentence, while a third 17-year-old is charged with two counts of failing to comply with a youth sentence. Additionally, an 18-year-old, a 19-year-old, and a 21-year-old have each been charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace. Specifically, the 18 and 21-year-olds also face charges for wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense.
