Jaime Wawro was filled with thoughts of Tanya Myers as she drove along Highway 39 recently. Nearly a year ago, Myers tragically lost her life to a shooting incident while traveling towards Weyburn, Sask. With the anniversary approaching, Wawro felt compelled to pay tribute to her memory.
Recalling Myers’ fondness for cats, Wawro decided to make a donation to the Humane Society in her honor. Upon learning about the need for sponsorships for cat rooms, Wawro initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise $30,000 for naming a new cat room at the expanded Weyburn Humane Society after Myers. The campaign has garnered over $3,000 in donations so far.
Even if the full fundraising target is not met, the collected funds will still benefit the Weyburn Humane Society, with the cat storage room being dedicated to Myers. Wawro expressed her enthusiasm for seeing Myers’ name displayed in one of the rooms.
The raised funds will be used to support the cat room and aid the operations of the Humane Society. Despite not having known Myers personally, Wawro has connected with her family post-tragedy, learning about Myers’ passion for caring for both people and animals.
Tanya Myers, who adored her family, friends, and had a special bond with her nine cats, was known for her nurturing nature towards animals. Penny Myers, Tanya’s mother, expressed overwhelming gratitude towards the supporters of Wawro’s fundraiser, appreciating the gestures in memory of her daughter.
