“Yukon Hospitals Regain Accreditation After Meeting Quality Standards”

Yukon Hospitals announced that it has successfully fulfilled various quality and safety standards to maintain its accreditation. The corporation expressed gratitude for the efforts of its staff, noting the progress made as recognized by Accreditation Canada. Emphasizing a commitment to continuous improvement, the corporation commended its team for their dedication to delivering high-quality care to the local communities they serve.

Following a period where its accreditation was temporarily revoked in May, the corporation regained its status after appealing the initial decision. Criticism was directed at Accreditation Canada by the Yukon Health Minister at the time of the revocation, stating that it was an erroneous move. A subsequent assessment conducted by Accreditation Canada this autumn focused on areas where the corporation had previously been found lacking.

Accreditation involves evaluating organizations against defined standards, with 29 criteria being used in this case. Yukon Hospitals met all but one of these criteria, as reported, which pertained to air exchanges in operating rooms. The next comprehensive accreditation assessment is scheduled for May.
