RCMP officials in Watson Lake, Yukon, have announced the laying of firearms and drug charges following two separate investigations. The initial probe, culminating in the execution of a search warrant on the evening of September 1, led to charges against two individuals for drug trafficking. One of the accused, a 49-year-old resident of British Columbia, is also facing allegations of weapon possession, owning property over $5,000 acquired through criminal means, and breaching a probation order. The other individual, a 33-year-old from Watson Lake, is charged with possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
Authorities disclosed the seizure of $13,266 in cash and 83 grams of suspected cocaine from the searched residence. In an unrelated investigation, RCMP officials charged two individuals from Alberta after responding to a report of a stolen vehicle from Edmonton on August 28, which was found in Watson Lake. During the vehicle search, law enforcement seized a loaded rifle and approximately 24 grams of what is believed to be cocaine.
The 43-year-old and 44-year-old suspects are facing charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of property over $5,000 obtained through illegal activities. Additionally, the 43-year-old is charged with violating the conditions of a release order. All four individuals have been remanded into custody.
