“73-Year-Old Woman Dies After London Stabbing”

A 73-year-old woman from London has passed away at the hospital nearly a week after being stabbed during a break-in at her residence in the southern part of the city.

Authorities responded to an incident at a home near Wellington Road and Base Line Road East around 6 a.m. on August 22 after the woman was awakened by a loud sound and discovered an intruder entering her home.

Following an assault and stabbing, the woman managed to contact emergency services. According to police, the victim and the perpetrator were not acquainted with each other.

Initially, the woman was taken to the hospital with severe but not life-threatening wounds. However, she has since succumbed to her injuries, leading the authorities to classify her death as a homicide.

A 40-year-old man from London has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident. This is in addition to prior charges of aggravated assault, break and enter with intent, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and obstructing a peace officer.

The suspect is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court on August 31. The investigation by London police is ongoing, and they urge anyone with details about the accused or any interactions with him to reach out to the authorities.
