New Brunswick RCMP are currently investigating the death of a man discovered in a residence outside Moncton as a homicide. The victim has been identified as Michael Eric Claude Steeves. The incident took place on August 4 when police responded to a sudden death report at a residence on Route 910 in Shenstone, a rural community near Hillsborough, located approximately 30 kilometers south of Moncton. Upon arrival, authorities found the body of a 57-year-old man inside the residence.
The RCMP’s updated news release did not disclose the cause of Steeves’ death or the reasons behind suspecting foul play. It also did not confirm whether Steeves resided in the Shenstone property. The police are seeking information from a male driver who stopped to converse with an individual walking on Route 910 in the Shenstone and Hillsborough regions. Additionally, they are looking to speak with a woman who might have provided transportation to someone either on Route 910 between Shenstone and Hillsborough or on Main Street in Hillsborough during the night of August 2 to August 3.
Furthermore, the RCMP urged anyone present in the vicinity at the time or possessing details regarding the suspected homicide to reach out to the authorities. CBC News has reached out to the RCMP for further details on the case.
