The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a resounding 85-38 victory during the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led the scoring for Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points. Canada took an early commanding lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and extended it to 46-11 by halftime. The ongoing eight-team qualifier will run until Sunday.
Previously, Canada secured a 72-57 win against Senegal in the tournament opener and is scheduled to face host Mexico next. The ultimate winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
