“Diverse Candidates Vie for Thunder Bay’s 2026 Election”

The nomination phase for the 2026 municipal election in Thunder Bay has officially ended, with a diverse array of candidates now in the running. Scheduled for October 26, the election will see residents voting for a mayor, five at-large councillors, seven ward councillors, and school board trustees. Notably, several current officials, including Mayor Ken Boshcoff and councillors Shelby Ch’ng, Michael Zussino, Dominic Pasqualino, and Kristen Oliver, have opted not to seek re-election.

Among the candidates who have submitted their nomination papers, the following list showcases both new contenders and incumbents:
– Mayor candidates include Trevor Giertuga, Maureen (Moe) Comuzzi, Volker Kromm, Peter Mark John Diedrich, Donald Baxter, Shane Judge, Aldo Ruberto, Peter Panetta, Wolfgang Schoor, and Doug Vincent.
– Councillor at-large nominees are Kasey Taylor Etreni, Robert Trevisan, Peng You, Dino Menei, Mark Bentz, Gary Christian, Jamie Nichols, Patrick George Cully, Rajni Agarwal, Tyler Goode, Heather K. Dahlstrom, Stephanie Danylko, Julie Colquhoun, and Gene Capar.
– Various ward candidates include individuals like Andrew Foulds, Cory Bagdon, Michael Giardetti, Donna Lee Morettin, Albert Aiello, Stephen Margarit, Greg Johnsen, Vish Nayyar, Olivia Kembel, Anne-Marie Gelineault, Claudette Gleeson, and many others.
