Emergency responders are currently searching for a swimmer who was last spotted at a beach in Pinery Provincial Park on Wednesday afternoon. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were alerted at 1 p.m. on August 26 regarding a 28-year-old individual from Scarborough who went missing at the park. The search efforts involve two OPP boats, the underwater search and recovery unit, and OPP aviation services. Additionally, Anishnabek Police Services from Kettle and Stony Point First Nation are assisting in the search operation. It remains unclear why there was nearly a 24-hour delay in the OPP notifying the public about the missing swimmer.
