Mayor Laura Crawley confirmed that water was back since early Monday morning, with plans for another shutdown from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. to allow the water tank to replenish.
The water problems stemmed from multiple leaks in the town’s water tank, causing significant water loss. Additionally, a water pump failure further exacerbated the situation. To assist affected residents, a water station was set up at the town hall, providing bottled water. Mayor Crawley acknowledged the town’s aging infrastructure but assured that they were working diligently to address the issues, although repairs might take weeks to complete.
Residents like Marie Lewis and Robert Collins shared their experiences of coping without running water, highlighting the inconveniences faced. Businesses, including restaurants, were also impacted, with some having to close temporarily due to the water shortage. Mayor Crawley expressed empathy for the community’s struggles and emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses during this challenging time.
