Environment Canada has issued a red tornado warning for Windsor-Essex due to thunderstorms moving through the area. The weather agency has advised that the potential for tornadoes aligns with the thunderstorm activity in lower Michigan this afternoon and evening. Along with tornado risks, there are possibilities of strong winds, hail, and heavy rainfall.
As of 4:12 p.m., Environment Canada has alerted that a severe thunderstorm is progressing eastward at a speed of 70 km/h. The agency emphasized the potential for destructive winds, damaging hail, and flooding rainfall. Areas at risk of being affected include Windsor and LaSalle, with the situation being described as very dangerous and posing a potential threat to life.
Environment Canada also cautioned that wind gusts could reach up to 110 km/h, and hail may grow to the size of a ping pong ball. Residents are strongly advised to seek shelter if they observe threatening weather conditions approaching.
