The Canadian-produced hockey series, “Heated Rivalry,” is adding new stars to its lineup for the upcoming second season. The show gained international recognition in its first season and helped elevate the careers of lead actors Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and François Arnaud. Recently, the show announced the addition of three new cast members:
– Milla Jovovich, known for her roles in the “Resident Evil” franchise and “The Fifth Element.”
– Kevin Zegers, recognized for his work in “Gossip Girl” and “Transamerica.”
– Paul Gross, a prominent figure in Canadian film and television, famous for “Due South” and “Men With Brooms.”
The series, inspired by Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” books, tells the story of a hidden romance between two rival hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Paul Gross will take on the role of hockey league commissioner Roger Crowell, while Kevin Zegers will portray Coach Wiebe, the head of the Ottawa Centaurs team. Milla Jovovich will play Dr. Galina Molchalina, a therapist supporting Rozanov.
The upcoming season will also feature returning actors Robbie G.K., Sophie Nélisse, Christina Chang, and Dylan Walsh. Additionally, new Canadian talents joining the cast include Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, Emily Hampshire, and Priyanka.
Emily Hampshire, in an interview, expressed her excitement for being part of the show, praising the creator and director Jacob Tierney. She noted the show’s success, comparing it to the international acclaim received by “Schitt’s Creek.”
“Heated Rivalry” dominated the Canadian Screen Awards, winning several accolades, including Best Drama. The second season of the series has commenced filming and is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2027 on Crave.
