“New Bill S-7 Aims to Streamline Federal Bureaucracy”

The Liberal government unveiled a new legislative proposal on Wednesday aimed at streamlining federal bureaucracy by amending over 30 laws. Known as Bill S-7, the government states that the bill will make targeted changes to alleviate unnecessary regulatory burdens across various areas such as fertilizer regulations, bankruptcy procedures, Canadian Dairy Commission appointments, animal waste management, and the adoption of electronic tools and technologies within departments.

The initiative follows Prime Minister Mark Carney’s directive for a comprehensive review of federal regulations in July 2025. Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali reported in September of the same year that this review had led departments to identify numerous opportunities to reduce red tape.
