“Community Puzzle Initiative Brings Joy to Health Center”

Dan Regan believes that engaging in puzzles can offer a brief escape from the daily chaos and provide a moment of levity. Recently, while at the Unity Health Centre in St. John’s, Regan had the idea to introduce puzzles to bring smiles to individuals facing challenging situations at the health facility. The center houses an urgent care clinic and ambulatory health services.

During his visit, Regan enjoyed a snack at the Jumping Bean coffee shop within the same building, reflecting on the potential of puzzles to provide a relaxing distraction for those in need. With the support of the café staff, Regan began setting up communal puzzles for anyone interested in participating. He even encouraged contributors to sign their names inside the puzzle box lid.

This initiative has garnered positive feedback, with around 22 people joining in on the first puzzle session. Regan continues to facilitate these puzzle gatherings, fostering a sense of community and joy among participants. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, as people have shared their experiences online, praising his thoughtful gesture.

Regan, who personally enjoys puzzles and completed numerous during the pandemic, emphasizes the accessibility and therapeutic value of this activity. He encourages others to take moments for enjoyment and relaxation whenever possible.
