“Burlington Extends Voting Period After Mail Error”

Burlington has decided to prolong the online voting period for the 2026 municipal election by an additional two days due to an error in mailing that caused 5,000 voter information letters to go undelivered to homes in Ward 6. The city made an announcement on Tuesday that online voting, which was initially set to end on Friday, will now be available until 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 25.

The voter information letters are crucial for eligible residents to participate in online balloting. The city assured that the impacted households in Ward 6 will receive their letters by mail no later than Wednesday. For other eligible voters who have not received their letters, they can request a new one by contacting 905-335-7777, ext. 8683.

Meanwhile, in Hamilton, the city council made a decision back in July to not allow online voting for this municipal election. In Burlington, residents planning to vote in person do not require a voter information letter but must present a valid identification document showing their name and address. On the election day of Monday, October 26, in-person voting will be available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

For further details on voting procedures, individuals can visit the city’s website for more information.
