Japan’s Daiki Hashimoto Secures Fourth Consecutive Gymnastics World Title

Daiki Hashimoto from Japan clinched the gold medal in the men’s all-around final at the 54th artistic gymnastics world championships held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Hashimoto, aged 25, secured his fourth consecutive title with an outstanding performance on the high bar in the final rotation, earning a total score of 85.988. Despite having the option to perform a safer routine, he chose to push his limits and excelled.

Starting off slowly on the floor exercise and initially ranking 10th, Hashimoto showcased his resilience by overcoming the setback and further solidifying his reputation as one of the greatest male gymnasts in history. His impressive streak of four consecutive world all-around titles, commencing in 2021, stands as the second-best achievement after Japan’s Kohei Uchimura, who won six straight all-around gold medals from 2009 to 2015.

Yang Haonan of China claimed the second spot with a score of 84.199, followed by Joe Fraser of Great Britain in third place with 83.531. Samuel Zakutney of Saint John finished 19th with a score of 77.432, while Arsenii Dukhno of Russia, an 18-year-old making his debut at the world championships, was in contention with Hashimoto before stumbling in the final event, resulting in a seventh-place finish.
