“Arson Suspected in Ajax House Fire”

At dawn on Monday, a fire in Ajax destroyed a house and caused damage to two neighboring homes, prompting suspicions of arson, as reported by the police. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. in the vicinity of Rossland Road W. and Church Street N., where emergency responders found one residence consumed by flames. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Authorities indicated that the fire likely originated in one of the homes before spreading to the adjacent properties. All three houses, situated in a relatively new development, were unoccupied and detached. Police suspect that one of the homes was deliberately targeted.

Constable Nicholas Gluckstein from Durham Regional Police mentioned that the discovery of certain evidence has led them to consider arson as a possible cause of the fire. Gluckstein stated in an email that the authorities are treating the incident as suspicious, without elaborating on the specifics of the evidence.

The Office of the Fire Marshal in Ontario has been informed about the situation and is collaborating with emergency teams to ascertain the exact trigger of the fire. Individuals with any relevant information are encouraged to reach out to the police for assistance.
