Businessman Offers 100 Free MRI Scans for Prostate Cancer

An individual in the business world is taking a proactive approach by offering 100 complimentary MRI scans following his father’s prostate cancer diagnosis. Prostate cancer, a condition that exclusively impacts males, is currently the most prevalent form of cancer in England, as reported by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). Statistics reveal that approximately one out of every eight men in the UK will receive this diagnosis during their lifetime. Recently, former Prime Minister David Cameron disclosed his own battle with the disease.

The significance of early detection through screenings cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, Robin Emerson, aged 38, experienced the distressing news that his father is now confronting an advanced stage of prostate cancer. Motivated to assist others in identifying the illness promptly, Robin, a native of Belfast and the founder of Jorja Healthcare based in London and Essex, has collaborated with the cancer support platform nowwhat.health. Together, they are offering potentially life-saving MRI scans, typically valued at £350 each, totaling £35,000.

Individuals with elevated PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood test results are eligible to request one of the complimentary scans until all 100 slots are filled. Moreover, an additional 1,000 MRI scans will be accessible to others at a reduced cost of £100 each.

Robin’s father, Alan, received a diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer in May 2016 at the age of 64. By that time, the disease had progressed to his bones, rendering the tumors on the exterior of his prostate inoperable and metastasized.

Reflecting on the situation, Robin expressed, “It was incredibly shocking, especially considering initial tests had indicated that Dad was at a low risk.” Following an urgent spinal surgery that led to his father being confined to a wheelchair, Alan was promptly referred to palliative care.

Despite enduring significant pain, Alan persists in his fight against the disease. Robin shared, “He continues to battle his condition, drawing strength from the love of his granddaughters. We take each day as it comes, grateful for Dad’s presence.”

Recognizing the hereditary aspect of the illness, Robin regularly monitors his own PSA levels. Emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about prostate health, he stated, “Many individuals are unaware that an MRI scan can detect various prostate conditions, including cancer.”

He added, “Family holds immense value for me, and witnessing my father’s journey has inspired me to extend assistance to others.”
