Conor McGregor has expressed approval for the UFC’s upcoming White House event, even though he is not part of the current lineup.
Initially rumored to headline a fight on President Donald Trump’s front lawn against Michael Chandler on June 14, McGregor is now expected to compete the following month. UFC CEO Dana White unveiled the White House card, featuring Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje in the main event.
In a surprising move, Alex Pereira will move up to heavyweight to face Ciryl Gane for the interim belt in the co-main event. Despite not being included in the card, McGregor shared his enthusiasm by posting a photo on social media with the caption “love it” and later mentioned that it was “a great card.”
McGregor had previously mentioned his eagerness to return to the cage but was uncertain about the exact timing. He revealed his willingness to fight Chandler at the White House, emphasizing the excitement surrounding the potential matchup. However, plans seemed to change with a possibility for McGregor to feature at International Fight Week instead.
Additionally, McGregor hinted at his comeback at welterweight, indicating his readiness to take on any opponent offered to him. He expressed his desire to get back into the ring and eagerly awaited a formal contract to solidify his return.
