Assistance in responding to the fire is being provided by the Charlottetown Volunteer Fire Department and Mary’s Harbour Volunteer Fire Department. Crystal Kippenhuck, an employee at Penney’s Pit Stop approximately seven kilometers from the fire, described a sense of nervousness and anxiety among residents. She mentioned that people are actively fueling up at the gas station.
Kippenhuck noted the striking visuals outside, with thick black and red smoke visible, especially when the wind intensifies. Despite the fire occurring in a heavily forested area, recent wet weather conditions have been observed. Residents have mobilized to support each other, ensuring that everyone has necessary supplies like gas and food.
