“Former England Cricket Captain Andrew Strauss Set to Wed in South Africa”

Former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss is preparing to tie the knot with his partner, Antonia Linnaeus-Peat, in South Africa next month. This comes seven years after the tragic passing of his first wife, Ruth, from lung cancer. Strauss, aged 48, will miss the upcoming Ashes series in Australia as the wedding is set for December 17.

In an interview on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, Strauss shared that the wedding will be a private affair, with only close family in attendance. The couple made their relationship public two years ago after reportedly being together for several months.

Antonia, aged 30, is a company director at Linnaeus Fine Art Advisory Limited and previously worked as a PR executive. The marriage marks a significant milestone for Strauss, following the loss of his first wife, Ruth, in December 2018 at the age of 46. The couple had two sons, Samuel, 19, and Luca, 17.

After Ruth’s passing, Strauss established the Ruth Strauss Foundation, which offers support to families dealing with the loss of a parent and funds research on non-smoking lung cancers. The foundation’s ‘Red for Ruth’ campaign is prominently featured at England Test matches, encouraging players, coaches, and fans to wear red in support.

Reflecting on his journey, Strauss emphasized the importance of cherishing loved ones and being mindful of life’s brevity. He highlighted the need to address grief openly and provide support to those experiencing loss, stressing the significance of community and understanding during challenging times.
