“Inuk Kid: 12-Year-Old Rapper Wows Crowd at Aqpik Jam”

Shemi Sakiagak, also known as the rapper Inuk Kid, is gaining attention in the music scene. The 12-year-old artist from Salluit had his debut performance at the recent Aqpik Jam music festival in Nunavik.

Inuk Kid expressed his excitement about performing live and interacting with the audience, mentioning that he enjoyed the positive reception and even signed autographs. Starting his rap journey at the age of six with his brother, who unfortunately couldn’t attend his first performance, Inuk Kid shared his joy of being on stage.

His mother, Susie Sakiagak, expressed pride in her son’s musical accomplishments, highlighting the positive impact his music has on others. Initially rapping in Inuktitut, Inuk Kid has expanded his repertoire to include English, with themes in his songs revolving around friendship and sports.

Collaborating with the production company No Sleep Academy and producer Michael El-Khoury, Inuk Kid released a five-song album in April. He teased upcoming music releases, including the performance of an unreleased track titled “Left, Right” that concluded his set at the festival.

Inuk Kid encouraged music enthusiasts to explore his work, confidently stating, “Check out my music. You’re going to enjoy it.”
