The Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement on a trade involving star forward Kawhi Leonard returning to Toronto. The trade was officially confirmed by the Raptors in a social media post on Monday evening, simply stating “He back” alongside a photo of Leonard in his #2 jersey.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the trade will see the Clippers acquiring all-star forward Brandon Ingram, guard Gradey Dick, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2027 first-round pick swap, and two second-round picks in exchange for Leonard.
The trade was temporarily put on hold while the NBA conducted an investigation into Leonard and the Clippers for potential salary-cap violations. The league concluded its investigation on September 2, resulting in Leonard being fined $700,000 but not facing suspension or contract voiding.
During the investigation period, Leonard, Ingram, and Dick made appearances related to their new teams within the limits of NBA rules. Leonard attended Kyle Lowry’s news conference at the OVO Athletic Centre, while Ingram was seen at a Clippers summer league game in Las Vegas.
Leonard, a key player in the Raptors’ 2019 championship victory, had a notable season with the Clippers, averaging 27.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in the 2025-26 season. Ingram, who spent a single season with Toronto, averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists but was sidelined by injury during the playoffs. Dick’s performance dipped in the 2025-26 season, with decreased playing time and career-low averages across various stats.
Kawhi Leonard is set to address the media at the Raptors’ upcoming media day on September 28.
