N.W.T. RCMP have confirmed that a 38-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly firing shots at a residence in Fort Good Hope early Sunday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The Fort Good Hope resident is now facing a series of charges, which include assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, and discharging a firearm recklessly.
Following a report received around 1:24 a.m. on Sunday about gunshots being fired at a house where multiple individuals, including three children, were present, law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended the suspect at a nearby location. An investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the suspect and another individual at the residence and was deemed an isolated occurrence.
The 38-year-old suspect, who was already out on bail at the time, has appeared in court and has been placed in custody. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
