“Man with knife pursues student in Brandon”

A 30-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly wielding a knife and pursuing a student walking home from school in Brandon, Manitoba. The incident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon, with the victim, described as a young female by the police, reporting the frightening encounter to authorities at the Brandon police station. She recounted being approached from behind by the man who tugged on her backpack and then proceeded to chase her briefly. Fortunately, she managed to escape unharmed.

After the victim’s report, police swiftly located the suspect following her departure from the station. The 30-year-old individual was apprehended and brought to the police station for further evaluation by a paramedic due to suspected drug intoxication. Subsequently, he was transferred to Brandon hospital for medical assessment where he was eventually cleared.

The man now faces charges of assault with a weapon and weapon possession, with a court appearance scheduled for the following morning.
