“Metrolinx to Reduce Niagara Falls GO Train Services”

Metrolinx is set to reduce three weekday and evening GO train services connecting to and from Niagara Falls, effective September 8. The affected services are the 1:02 p.m. and 7:59 p.m. trains from Niagara Falls to Union Station, as well as the 9:10 a.m. train from Union Station to Niagara Falls.

In a press release, Metrolinx explained that these service adjustments are necessary to manage the previous high ridership demands during FIFA events and to conduct crew training for one of GO Transit’s rail partners to support potential future service requirements. This seasonal change may remain in effect until spring 2027, as per the transit agency.

During this period, Metrolinx recommends that Niagara commuters utilize the GO bus route 12 to access Burlington GO for transfers to the Lakeshore West line. Commuters should anticipate delays of up to 30 minutes between Confederation GO and Niagara Falls GO due to ongoing track conditions, which mandate reduced train speeds, as detailed on Metrolinx’s GO page.
