“Montreal’s La Ronde Closes Goliath Ride”

Montreal’s La Ronde theme park has decided to temporarily close one of its popular attractions following a fatality and injuries on a roller-coaster at a Six Flags park in Georgia, U.S. The incident at the Goliath ride, captured on video by local TV stations, led to the precautionary shutdown of Montreal’s own Goliath rollercoaster on Tuesday. The park stated that the roller-coaster will remain closed until further instructions are received from the manufacturer.

Although La Ronde is no longer owned by Six Flags, the amusement park’s attractions, including the Goliath ride, were under Six Flags’ supervision before the park was acquired by EPR Properties earlier this year. In response to the tragic incident at Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags temporarily closed nine roller-coasters across six of its amusement parks.

Carole Bricault, the communications director at La Ronde, expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended condolences to those impacted. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatality and injuries at the park, with the Cobb County Police Department’s major crimes unit leading the investigation.
