Earlier this summer, Jasmin Esquivel journeyed from Saskatchewan to British Columbia, not knowing that a significant event awaited her. Just a short time later, Esquivel emerged as the victor, being crowned Mrs. Canada Universe 2026 at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey, B.C. Reflecting on her unexpected win, Esquivel expressed her astonishment, particularly as a mother of five. Recalling her last pageant experience at 17, the opportunity to participate in this competition at 43 ignited a deep-seated passion within her.
Residing in Prince Albert, Sask., alongside her children, Esquivel credited her family for their unwavering support and motivation, despite her initial apprehensions about joining the contest. Her eldest daughter, Brianna Balajonda, shared their initial shock but marveled at Esquivel’s dedication and drive throughout the preparation process.
