CBC is expanding its coverage of Canadian curling with a new five-year broadcast agreement that will bring increased playoff coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling and all Rock League games to its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, announced on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined television coverage on CBC and Sportsnet for the 2026-27 season.
A significant development for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, will make a comeback on CBC in January 2027. Fans can catch every game on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected games also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays. Rock League features six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various countries, and its second season will showcase events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday through Sunday.
In addition to Rock League, CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet will remain the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events starting in October, showing three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays, CBC and CBC Gem will join Sportsnet+ for playoff coverage, while Sportsnet will broadcast the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC airing select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will continue to be streamed on Rock Channel.
The new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive curling history, enhancing its presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about continuing to showcase Rock League to audiences nationwide. For The Curling Group, these agreements will broaden the national audience for both the Grand Slam and Rock League, marking a pivotal moment for the sport.
