Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been selected to represent Canada in the upcoming FIBA World Cup qualifiers. Canada Basketball’s general manager, Rowan Barrett, announced the 15-player men’s roster for the Americas qualifiers, which includes Alexander-Walker, Luguentz Dort, Trae Bell-Haynes, Khem Birch, Marcus Carr, Mfiondu Kabengele, Kaza Kajami-Keane, Koby McEwen, David Muenkat, Nick Ongenda, Kelly Olynyk, Jackson Rowe, Thomas Scrubb, Keevan Veinot, and Kyle Wiltjer.
RJ Barrett of the Toronto Raptors and Bennedict Mathurin of the Los Angeles Clippers will also join the team as ambassadors but will not participate in the games. Canada is set to face Panama in Panama City on Thursday and will then host Argentina in Quebec City on Monday. The Canadian team currently leads Group F with an unblemished 6-0 record after convincing victories against Jamaica and Puerto Rico in Hamilton back in June.
