“Quebec Provincial Election Today: Voting, Coverage, and Analysis”

Today, on October 5th, residents of Quebec are participating in the provincial election to select the next government leader. Polling stations will be operational from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Employers are mandated to provide a minimum of four consecutive hours for voting on election day without any deduction in pay or repercussions.

Voters have received voting location details via mail, with a reminder card sent in both official languages, as directed by a provincial judge. The reminder card lists the candidates running in your electoral district. To locate your polling station, you can use the Elections Quebec website by entering your address.

In a bid to facilitate voter access, BIXI and àVélo bike-sharing services are offering complimentary rides throughout the province from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

For undecided voters, tools like Vote Compass and Platform Tracker have been created to assist in comparing personal views with parties and candidates’ stances. Historically, the voter turnout in the last two general elections stood at around 66% of eligible voters.

Before election day, over 25% of electors have already cast their votes during the advance polls held from September 25 to October 1. CBC will commence live coverage of the election at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time, broadcasting on CBC TV, CBC News Network, CBC Radio One, CBC Gem, CBC Listen, cbc.ca/quebec, and YouTube, with ASL interpretation available. The coverage will offer real-time updates and expert commentary from various panelists and reporters.

Post-election analysis will be featured on Tuesday, October 6, with a provincewide morning show election special on Daybreak Montreal. Hosted by Sean Henry, the program will include analysis and reactions from across the province, accessible on CBC Radio One, CBC Listen, and the CBC News app, starting at 6 a.m. Eastern Time. Additionally, viewers can tune in via the CBC website, CBC Gem, YouTube, or the CBC Quebec News streaming channel.
