A teacher in Richmond is set to serve a two-week suspension following reports from two students who discovered nude and sexual images he had shared on Reddit. The incident involving Jimmy Ho came to light around September 15, 2023, when two Grade 11 students stumbled upon his profile and deemed it inappropriate, prompting them to alert school staff. The news of Ho’s Reddit account quickly spread within the school community.
Nearly three years later, the Commissioner for Teacher Regulation in British Columbia imposed a two-week suspension on Ho, who has been on leave since September 17, 2023. The suspension will take place from October 25 to November 7 this year. Ho confessed to posting nude photos, engaging in sexual acts, as well as sharing clothed photos of himself linked to school-related activities, including one taken at the school premises.
The Commissioner stated that by publicly sharing sexual images of himself, Ho failed to uphold the integrity, credibility, and reputation of the teaching profession. Ho agreed to the two-week suspension and committed not to make any statements, orally or in writing, that would contradict or dispute the terms outlined in the consent resolution agreement or the admissions made within it.
