The community of Clyde River in Nunavut is currently engaged in a search for a young boy who went missing nearly a week ago after drifting away on the bay near the Baffin Island hamlet. The incident occurred on August 6 when two youngsters were floating on separate makeshift rafts and were carried further into the bay by the current. One of the youths fell off the raft into the water and did not resurface. It was noted that neither of the youths had on a life jacket, as per a statement from the RCMP.
Following the incident, the RCMP, along with search and rescue teams and local community members, promptly initiated search operations to locate the missing youth. The search efforts have involved the use of boats, ATVs, drones, and foot searches along the shoreline.
The RCMP has confirmed that the second youth who was involved in the incident managed to return safely to the community.
