Tragic Day in Outaouais: Two Fatal Accidents Reported

Two individuals lost their lives in separate accidents in the Outaouais region on Friday, as reported by the Sûreté du Québec. The initial incident occurred during a single-vehicle crash at approximately 4 a.m. on route 317 near Thurso. A male driver in his thirties veered off the road at a sharp bend, colliding with a parked truck before rolling into a nearby wooded area. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries. Authorities suspect that speed may have played a role in the crash and are currently conducting an investigation.

The second collision took place around 10 a.m. when a male driver lost his life after his vehicle struck a hydro pole on route 148 near Montebello. The vehicle was traveling eastbound at the time of the accident, leading to the driver’s fatal injuries. According to spokesperson Marc Tessier, speed was not a contributing factor in this particular incident. The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed, and investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing. As a result of the accident, the highway was temporarily closed between côte du Front and chemin du Traversier, the Quebec terminal for the ferry service connecting Fassett, Que., and Lefaivre, Ont.
