Police authorities in the Lewisporte region have reported the tragic death of a 58-year-old man in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) swiftly responded to the incident around 6 p.m. on Route 340, near the junction leading to Route 345, close to the local service district of Virgin Arm-Carter’s Cove, approximately 25 kilometers from Twillingate.
The motorcycle operator was rushed to Twillingate hospital but was declared deceased upon arrival, as confirmed by law enforcement. Additionally, a passenger on the motorcycle was also taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and have involved the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in their inquiries.
