“Olympic Champions Inspire Kids with Breakfast and Motivation”

Olympic champions traded the race track for classrooms this week, bringing motivation and morning meals to school children. Team GB medalists Christine Ohuruogu, Eve Muirhead, Laura Deas, and Georgia Hunter Bell shared insights on their success, emphasizing the importance of a nutritious breakfast. Teaming up with Quaker Oats and charity Magic Breakfast, the athletes enjoyed a warm bowl of Quaker porridge with the kids to highlight the significance of starting the day right.

According to research by national charity Family Action, a considerable percentage of school children skip breakfast regularly, impacting their concentration and energy levels. Magic Breakfast currently supports over 300,000 children daily across England and Scotland, offering healthy breakfasts and expert guidance to schools.

Studies reveal that Year 2 students provided with a free, nutritious Magic Breakfast show an average of two months’ additional progress compared to those without this provision. Josephine Taylor, PepsiCo’s head of marketing, expressed the importance of ensuring every child has the necessary fuel to achieve their potential. The collaboration with Team GB and Magic Breakfast aims to showcase how a simple bowl of porridge can make a significant impact, aiding children in focusing during lessons and empowering Olympians on their journey to success.

The Olympians made visits to three schools nationwide, including St. John’s CE School in London’s Tower Hamlets. Olympic gold medalist Christine highlighted how a good breakfast provides the energy, focus, and confidence needed to overcome challenges. Laura and Eve visited the Co-Op Academy in Swindon, stressing the importance of proper nutrition for peak performance in sports and daily life.

Georgia, a middle-distance runner and bronze medalist, engaged with students at St. Joseph’s RC Junior School in Croydon, sharing her journey to success and emphasizing the necessity of fueling both the body and mind for optimal performance. She encouraged children to adopt healthy habits early on to unlock their potential in various aspects of life.

The initiative aims to instill healthy habits in children from a young age, preparing them for success in academics, sports, and beyond. The athletes believe that these children are the future stars of the nation, capable of achieving greatness with the right foundation.
