An elderly woman, aged 80, lost her life in a collision involving two vehicles on the Trans-Canada Highway near Flat Bay in western Newfoundland, as reported by authorities. This tragic event led to the closure of both lanes of the T.C.H. near the Flat Bay Junction for approximately seven hours on that day.
The deceased woman, identified as an American by the police, was pronounced dead at the crash site. She was accompanied by a 79-year-old man who sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital in Corner Brook for treatment.
The driver of the second vehicle involved in the collision was also taken to the hospital, but fortunately, their injuries were described as minor by the police.
