“Ottawa Police Apprehend 17 in Shoplifting Crackdown”

Ottawa police have apprehended more than a dozen individuals and pressed numerous charges following collaboration with a downtown business alarmed by shoplifting activities. The Ottawa Police Service revealed the apprehension of 17 individuals on Thursday as part of targeted operations carried out in conjunction with the loss prevention team of a specific business between July 12 and August 18. The business is situated on the 300 block of Rideau Street, a few blocks away from the Rideau Centre. It was emphasized by the police that this operation is distinct from their ongoing endeavors to combat theft at the mall. The charges laid against the individuals include theft under $5,000 and causing a disturbance.
